This is a sophisticated Vintage Japanese Matcha Bowl (Chawan) from the renowned Kuriyama Kiln, representing the traditional Kyoto Kurita yaki (Awata ware) style. The bowl comes complete with its Original Wooden Box (Tomobako) and information leaflet. The design features the elegant "Ninsei style", characterized by refined overglaze enamels. Hand-painted Red and Green Maple Leaves (Momiji) float gracefully over a warm cream-colored background, which is enhanced by a beautiful, subtle Crackle Glaze (Crazing) pattern. This motif evokes the beauty of Autumn but is cherished year round in the Japanese tea ceremony. The bowl has a comfortable shape and a smooth rim, perfect for whisking and drinking matcha. It is a wonderful piece for tea practitioners or collectors of fine Japanese pottery (Kyo yaki).
