This is a remarkable vintage Japanese Bizen Ware (Bizen yaki) vessel that perfectly embodies the aesthetic of Wabi Sabi, finding beauty in imperfection.
Unique Shape (Inverted Rim): The rim curves inward (Ubaguchi), a clever design originally intended to prevent water from splashing out.
Tea Ceremony (Kensui): Traditionally used as a waste-water bowl during the tea ceremony.
Calligraphy (Brush Washer): The inward rim is perfect for wiping excess water or ink from a brush.
Ikebana Vase: Its earthy, rustic look makes it a stunning base for wild flower arrangements.
Kintsugi Art: The rim features Gold Repair (Kintsugi). Rather than hiding the chips, they have been repaired with gold lacquer, highlighting the history of the object and turning a flaw into a beautiful focal point.
