Unused Showa-era Japanese Mahjong set featuring traditional bamboo back tiles and an intact Japanese Government Revenue Stamp. Includes 144 tiles in a portable case with natural patina from decades of storage. Tile size is Japanese standard, smaller than American and Chinese tiles.

Japanese standard tiles (26 x 19 x 16 mm) are smaller than American (30 x 22 x 12 mm) and Chinese (32 x 24 x 16 mm) tiles. Japanese Mahjong is typically played with 136 tiles; this set includes 144. The extra tiles allow for the dead wall and full wall setup used in riichi mahjong.
