Tetsubin are traditional Japanese cast iron kettles designed for stovetop water boiling, not enameled teapots. The unenameled interior is a traditional feature, not a defect. Surface rust on vintage tetsubin is normal and can be stabilized through repeated tea boiling.

Authenticity Note

Listed by seller as Nanbu Tekki (南部鉄器), a regional cast iron craft tradition from Iwate Prefecture, Japan. No individual maker signature confirmed.

Care Note

Unenameled interior is traditional for stovetop boiling. Surface rust is consistent with vintage age. Do not use on electromagnetic induction cookers. Dry thoroughly after each use.
