Vintage Japanese mahjong set from the mid Showa era, featuring 144 tiles with bamboo backs, white faces, and traditional dovetail joinery. The storage case has a distinctive croc-embossed faux leather exterior with a retro swirl vinyl finish. Includes point sticks, dice, and score sheets. Note: Japanese standard tiles are smaller than American or Chinese tiles.

Japanese standard mahjong tiles are smaller than American and Chinese tiles. This set measures 26 x 19 x 16 mm per tile. American standard is 30 x 22 x 12 mm; Chinese standard is 32 x 24 x 16 mm. Japanese mahjong (Riichi) is typically played with 136 tiles drawn from a 144-tile set.

Made in Japan per source description. Showa-era attribution is based on tile construction style and case design consistent with mid-century Japanese production.
